Our Virtual Supervised Nutrition Teaching Clinic
The Virtual Supervised Nutrition Teaching Clinic provides nutrition intern graduates—upon completion of their master’s degree—with structured, hands-on clinical training under the guidance of experienced nutrition professionals. This supportive learning environment helps emerging practitioners build confidence, competence, and practical skills as they work toward the Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) credential and prepare for independent clinical practice.
Our teaching clinic offers the public high-quality nutrition support at no cost while ensuring personalized, thoughtful care. Each client receives extra time and attention from CNS candidates working under the supervision of experienced clinicians, benefiting from a collaborative, functional, and integrative approach. This model provides comprehensive guidance rooted in current evidence, helping clients feel supported, informed, and empowered on their wellness journey.
Our Virtual Teaching Clinic Opportunities for the Public
Live Practice Client Intake & Interview Monthly Sessions
This innovative teaching clinic activity allows our CNS candidates-interns to deepen their learning in effective client intake and interview sessions. Intake interviews are the cornerstone for understanding clients' needs, history, and concerns. These meetings set the stage for the therapeutic journey, offering a vital opportunity for both the nutritionist and client to establish rapport, build trust, and begin to assess root causes and medical nutrition therapeutic goals.
The volunteer’s initial intake and interview are conducted live in a virtual setting by a CNS candidate, with additional CNS candidates observing the session. This appointment typically lasts 1–1.5 hours and follows all HIPAA-compliant procedures. No nutrition or lifestyle treatment is provided during this visit. Because this is a practice, stand-alone session, volunteers may choose to transition
into an ongoing client role and continue working with the CNS candidate if desired.
Individual Client Sessions
Our CNS candidates-interns also conduct one-on-one sessions with members of the public under professional supervision. These visits allow candidates to apply functional and integrative nutrition principles as they practice client interviewing, assessment, and protocol development skills. Clients receive personalized, evidence-informed guidance, while candidates gain hands-on experience and individualized feedback to support their growth into confident and competent nutrition professionals.
Nutrition Webinars
Our CNS candidates-interns deliver live, virtual nutrition webinars to the public, offering accessible education grounded in functional and integrative health principles. These presentations provide evidence-informed guidance on a variety of wellness topics, helping individuals build practical knowledge and adopt healthier lifestyle habits. Under the supervision of experienced nutrition professionals, candidates strengthen their teaching, communication, and presentation skills while attendees benefit from reliable information in an engaging, supportive learning environment.
